About

Practical by background

I came to software after thirteen years in warehouse operations. That's where I learned that a system is only as good as how it behaves on a busy day, when the data is messy and people are relying on it.

I went back to school for computer science and graduated from Colorado Technical University in 2024, summa cum laude, with a concentration in software engineering. While studying, I joined Coding Dojo, first as a teaching assistant and then as an instructor, teaching full-stack web development for about three years.

Since May 2025 I've been a contract software engineer, working hands-on in production. I build and maintain business applications that cross React frontends, NestJS and .NET APIs, third-party integrations, and SQL databases. That includes scheduling and calendar sync, estimate workflows, data integration, and the debugging that keeps it all running.

Teaching shows up in how I work. I explain tradeoffs in plain language, write down what I find, and try to leave code and documentation that the next person can pick up without me.

I'm based in the Portland, Oregon area. I'm looking primarily for remote roles, and I'm open to hybrid work in Portland. I'm an early riser who already works Eastern time hours, and I prefer it.
